Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
