Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
Yet the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
